Primary Grades

The reading program is eclectic in order to meet the students' different learning styles and needs. A formal program is available along with specialized programs in phonics, literature, and the use of the writing process in reading.

The mathematics program is based on skills and concepts previously mastered. A formal program is available, and the use of manipulatives to foster the exploration and understanding of problem solving and logical reasoning as well as number combinations is included.

Science is hands-on and experiential. Various studies pertinent to real life situations -- i.e. studies about plants, animals, insects, the use of water, weather, and the seasons of the year, etc. -- are included.

In social studies children study maps and globes and learn about other cultures. They also learn about their roles in the world and how to become responsible citizens.

Art, music, Enrichment, and health and physical education opportunities are incorporated into each teacher's weekly schedule in accordance with the curriculum. Christian music with Ms. Gracie is presented each Friday.

The use of computers as a learning tool is included. Proper keyboard usage and programs that foster classroom content are used.
